    To enable our community to flourish, we will create an environment in which every child feels safe and secure, ready to be resilient and take on challenges. Within a place of kindness, they will grow into individuals who believe in themselves and know that they are an important part of their community, showing love and respect for themselves, others and the environment.  We will ‘live life in all its fullness’ John 10:10.  

    Love “Let all that you do be done in love” 1 Corinthians 16:14 

    Love is a core Christian value for our school because in the Bible we learn that God is Love and that God showed how much he loves us and how to love others, when he sent his son Jesus to live on earth. 

    In one of Paul’s letters to the Corinthians, he shared that ‘Love is patient and kind’. Jesus showed us to love everyone through the story of the Good Samaritan. Jesus proved his love for us when he died on the cross so that we can be forgiven. 

    In our community, love forms the basis of all that we do. We share a love of learning, love for one another and love for the world that God made. We remember that God loves us and we can love ourselves and others. 

    Courage "Be strong and courageous for the Lord God is with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9 

    Courage is a core Christian value for our school because Jesus inspires us to be courageous and to stand for what is right in all circumstances, even when this is hard to do. 

    In the Book of Joshua, God tells his people to ‘Be strong and courageous’. This reminds us to stand against injustice and to be the best we can be when things are difficult. We can also learn about courage through the story of David and Goliath 

    In our community we recognise the importance of building courage and resilience in our children, guiding them to carry on when things get tough and to stand up for what they believe in.  

    Through whole school worship and class worship we use bible stories to provide examples of courage. We reflect on how the children and adults can show courage. This includes: not giving up on something which is tricky, giving challenges a go, speaking up for themselves and others, trying out new experiences and standing up for what they believe in. 

    Hope “For with God nothing shall be impossible”. Luke 1:37 

    Hope is a core Christian value for our school because throughout his life Jesus gave hope to others and the resurrection of Jesus shows us that evil can never ultimately triumph over love. 

    In the beginning of John’s Gospel it says ‘The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it.’  We can also learn about hope through the story of The Lost Sheep. 

    In our community we share in the joy that comes from the belief that there is always hope and all is never lost. We believe that Hope is an attitude of mind that we develop through faith in God and each other.  

    Through whole school worship and class worship we use bible stories to provide examples of hope. We reflect on how the children and adults can develop hope.  In our school this helps us to keep going even when things get hard and when we face new challenges. Together we can turn hope into reality.

    Collective Worship

    Daily worship provides staff and children with inspiration and spiritual growth. We are well supported by clergy from the local parishes and have a special relationship with the church that founded the school, St Luke’s. Worship underpins the values of our school and nourished by it, we uphold our Christian ethos in all that we do.

    Worship confirms the values of our school and helps permeate our Christian ethos throughout all that we do. St Luke’s aims to be an agile learning community, able to react and adjust provision to meet the individual needs of learners in the changing world in which we live.
